To ensure project quality engineering requirements are identified, communicated to and applied to all relevant areas of the business.

To continually develop and improve quality engineering processes and procedures, the result of which will achieve or exceed customer and company expectations and will contribute in delivering a high performing Quality team.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review assigned RFQ packages and specifications, identify quality requirements and distribute findings.
  • If required, attend bid clarification meetings to discuss and agree quality requirements.
  • Compile quality documents and information as required by the RFQ and forward to the Sales department for inclusion in bid.
  • Review assigned sales order packages and specifications in order to identify quality requirements.
  • Compile Project quality documents (MITP, NDT Procedures, Quality Plans etc…).
  • Compile and/or obtain in-house and supplier quality documents and information, then in a timely manner:
  • Submit to, and obtain customer and/or third party approval.
  • Disseminate quality information throughout the company.
  • Liaise with customer representatives through site visits, discussions through email, telephone etc.
  • Assist with compilation of document packages and other required records in readiness for submission to the customer for approval/product release.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure their understanding of, and adherence to, company quality requirements.
  • When required, assist with conducting quality audits of suppliers.
  • Assist with delivery of the internal QMS audit process and product specific audits.
  • Assist with process capability studies such as PFMEA (Process Failure Mode EffectAnalysis) and MSA (measurement systems analysis).
  • Assist the Quality Manager in compilation and publishing of KPIs.
  • Continuously develop and improve quality engineering processes and procedures and make recommendations as to where process improvements can be made.
  • Be familiar with the requirements of various Quality Standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100 and Industry standards such as ASME etc.
  • Be familiar with quality related BPPs and SOPs and assist with maintaining the QMS.

Person Specification Knowledge.

  • Extensive knowledge of business quality processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of accurately converting metric / imperial measurements.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role in a sub-contract manufacturing business.
  • Experience of dealing directly with external suppliers and customers, and managing the customer relationship.
  • Experience of working in a subcontract manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship certificate in a relevant discipline – I.e. engineering.
  • A relevant HNC or NVQ level 4 in an engineering discipline.
  • Subject to a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
