Job Specific Duties including but not limited to:
Carry out the mechanical construction phases of projects
Concept stage – assist in development of initial schedule, identification of long lead items and a provisional build / test strategy
Manufacturing and installation phases – assist with contractors and sub-contractors to ensure equipment is delivered to required quality and on schedule
Print off and review drawings with Lead Construction Engineers and Construction Supervisors for construction works. Agree hours required for the workshop assembly / construction and schedule the time required within the workshop for implementation.
Prepare work packages (work packs, drawings, parts lists) and correctly complete As Built information and closure sign offs
To develop construction procedures for all aspects of the construction phases including manufacturing, assembly and test
Development of risk assessments, method statements, procedures and plans for construction, including contractor compliance. Identify the need for specific Risk Assessments where a suitable generic does not exist and produce as required.
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, both internal and external of the business, to ensure that Project requirements are met.
Ability to manage on-site contractors whilst ensuring all HSE requirements are adhered to including the submission of RAMS and any Permit-to-work requirements
To assist the project team with resolution of technical issues that may arise during the construction phases of the project
Maintain and populate all required project specific documentation and registers as required for the construction phase
Support a continuous improvement culture; ensure that issues are identified and logged by use of company tools such as non-conformance reporting, lessons learnt etc.
Positively promote HSE considerations, ensuring workers follow all HSE requirements and participate in identifying and raising HSE concerns by use of systems such as SHARP cards, Near Miss Reports, etc
Ensure safe systems of work are used to keep all site personnel and visitors safe from harm. Fully utilise all systems including RAMS, toolbox talks, HIT cards and permits to work etc.
Support the HSE team when required to ensure all site inductions and sign offs from new company employees, temporary workers and visitors to site are completed and documents filed correctly.
Required to travel and work nationally and internationally as required to meet the needs of the business, including offshore works
Any other duties as directed by line management or SMT member
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Skills
- IT competent
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
- Microsoft Project user (basic level)
- Ability to use AutoCAD and read and interpret engineering drawings
Qualifications
- HND/C or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering and / or excellent progressive career experience in mechanical assembly work
Experience - Extensive experience in heavy engineering environment
- Experience of mechanical assembly and delivering to schedule
- Part of successful mechanical assembly team
- Able to work independently and / or as part of a team, as required by the role
- A flexible approach in working overtime and shifts as required to meet project requirements
