Reporting to the Senior Supplier Assurance Engineer, the Supplier Assurance Engineer is responsible for managing supplier relationships ensuring the supply chain delivers conforming products and equipment to the company within the scope, cost and time constraints.
The principle of the role is to:
Provide technical support and advice to suppliers and other functions within the business.
Provide supplier surveillance planning and define requirements for Inspection & Test Plans.
Attend supplier surveillance visits and ITP intervention points.
Undertake quality control inspections where required.
Ensure all supplier documentation is received, reviewed and responded to.
Produce progress reports.
This role will involve regular local, national and international travel.
Technical Support
Provide technical support and advice to the sales and project management teams regarding supplier selection, capability and capacity.
Provide technical support and advice to suppliers regarding company, client, class and statutory quality requirements/regulations.
Provide technical support and advice to the engineering team regarding design for manufacture considerations.
Provide technical support and advice to the supply chain team regarding the flow down of quality and documentation requirements to suppliers via the purchase order.
Planning
Produce a Supplier Surveillance Plan for each project with a build element.
Identify requirements for Supplier Inspection and Test Plans (ITP); obtain, review and approve them.
Visits and Inspections
Attend all planned surveillance visits identified in the Supplier Surveillance Plan.
Receive, file and respond to all supplier NOIs.
Attend all intervention points identified in the Supplier ITPs.
If required by the Supplier/Client ITP, undertake Quality Control (QC) inspections at the appropriate ITP intervention points.
Use of 3rd party inspectors to be made when internal company staff do not have pre-requisite qualifications.
Documentation
Identify, receive, register, file, distribute and respond to all supplier dependencies e.g. company sign off requirements for drawings, specifications etc.
Receive, register, file, distribute and respond to all supplier TQs and Concessions.
Ensure all issues / non-conformances identified in the supply chain are logged, actioned and closed.
Where appropriate, undertake root cause analysis to identify corrective and preventative measures.
Ensure all supplier Vendor Documentation Packs are received (in a timely manner), checked and filed in the appropriate project folders.
Reporting
Produce weekly Progress Reports from the surveillance visits and ITP intervention points.
General
Work collaboratively across all functions of the company including sales, engineering, project management, supply chain, production, commissioning and supplier/quality assurance.
Ensure a consistent approach to support project execution and issue resolution.
Attend internal and external business meetings, as required, including project reviews, gate reviews etc.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager or a member of the senior management team.
Core Competencies
Full understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
Excellent understanding and working knowledge of processes and procedures in a complex engineering and manufacturing environment.
Strong Health and Safety awareness with preference for formal HSE qualifications.
CSWIP weld inspection / PCN NDT qualifications.
Knowledge of project management process and methodologies.
Proficient report writing and metric generation skills backed up by strong MS Office knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Organised, analytical, self-motivated and professional.
Problem solver, able to work independently, under pressure, with minimum supervision.
Ability to produce high quality work even while under pressure.
Ability to work effectively with others in a cross functional environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience of quality control of engineering projects.
HNC/HND in a related engineering discipline.
Preference for CSWIP weld inspection / PCN NDT qualifications.
Strong Health and Safety awareness with preference for formal HSE qualifications.
