Engineering Technical Manager (Rail / Track)
Assist in planning the safe management and inspection of company assets to ensure compliance with the performance specification for company and/or the client. Ensure performance and quality standards are met by providing a reliable and cost effective service against requirements.
Principal areas of responsibility:
The following list is typical of the duties, which the post holder will be required to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type or level may be required from time to time.
Provide assurance to the Engineering Manager (Rail/Track) by analysing, prioritising, measuring and monitoring asset condition and standards of workmanship to ensure that inspection and maintenance standards are being met and outputs achieved.
Liaison with internal departments and other stakeholders regarding planning, delivery and acceptance of new assets.
Deputise for the Engineering Manager (Rail/Track) when required.
Provide technical assistance and support to company departments and other stakeholders in planning, managing and implementing renewal and replacement works and to assist whenever reasonably practicable to ensure that projects are delivered.
Developing maintenance and inspection plans for Maintenance Delivery maintained assets.
In conjunction with the Principal Engineer, developing, holding, issuing and maintaining technical procedures, instructions, specifications manuals and drawings for Maintenance Delivery maintained assets.
Assist Principal Engineer in preparing capital budgets for maintenance and improvement of assets, supported by engineering justification data.
Monitoring recorded faults, investigating as necessary and taking action to reduce or prevent further occurrences and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Assist in establishing training and competency needs to meet new and updated practices, and assisting in carrying out training and competency assessment.
Ensuring that all work is carried out safely and efficiently and supporting the compilation of associated Health and Safety documentation.
Investigating and reporting on incidents and accidents and implementing remedial measures.
Carry out Health & Safety inspections as directed.
Assist in designing and trialling new systems and equipment, producing modification specifications and/or recommending any changes to standards and procedures.
Providing technical support and advice on Rail & Track asset matters to other departments and to external parties and were appropriate inputting and updating data.
Monitoring to ensure that records on the computerised maintenance asset management system are being kept up to date.
Carry out drawing/documentation verification and update and amend technical drawings as necessary.
Responsible for planning and issuing preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and fault tasks.
As a minimum, the successful applicant will have a Level 4 Qualification, in an Engineering subject, or have appropriate demonstrable vocational experience.
Extensive knowledge of the Permanent Way with particular reference to technical advancements, safety regulations, Railway Group Standards and Rail Industry Company Standards.
IT literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook as a minimum), Maximo (or equivalent) and general software, including the ability to create spreadsheets and format documents.
