Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the key responsibilities and duties will include:
- Maintaining an HSE management system in accordance with ISO 45001 requirements.
- Conducting task based and management system audits and workplace inspections.
- Coaching and mentoring to drive a positive health and safety culture.
- Supporting / providing specialist advice, guidance in the development of policies and procedures to create safe systems of work to eliminate or adequately control risks.
- Assisting with the development of health and safety strategic planning and associated KPI’s.
- Overseeing compliance with company and statutory H&S requirements. Keep up to date with any proposed H&S legislative changes.
- Involvement in incident investigations and developing actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conducting incident analysis and trending.
- Conducting training needs analysis / arranging training and subsequent record keeping.
- Working with Engineering and Maintenance departments to oversee apprentice training and development.
- Participation in the groups health and safety forums and initiatives to drive continuous improvement across the business.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Background
- Knowledge and experience of power station operations or similar process working environments.
- Experience of behavioural safety programmes.
- Understanding and applying the development and growth of H&S best practices.
- Experience of identifying continuous improvement opportunities in relation to H&S matters.
- Sound understanding and application of UK H&S legislation requirements.
- Understanding of hazardous area zoning and associated equipment requirements.
- Awareness of functional safety applications.

Qualifications
- Degree or HND in an engineering/science subject (essential).
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
