DESCRIPTION OF ROLE
This role is focussed on developing customer relationships, securing enquiries and converting enquiries to contracts for the Customer Support Team. This will principally involve the Repair and Service of company products within an engineering / manufacturing industry. Given the nature of the business, this is predominantly a UK based role.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Developing a rolling visit programme, which will largely be managed by the individual, to existing and potential Customer Support customers, most of which are in the UK.
- Developing customer relationships for the Customer Support Team.
- Managing customer activity within the territory.
- Establishing direct lines of communication with customers in the territory.
- Promotion of the company’s Repair and Service functions within the territory.
- Securing tendering opportunities from customers within the territory.
- Converting tenders from customers in the territory into orders.
- Capturing customer technical and commercial requirements to develop a specification for the Repair or Service task in question.
- Producing quotations for Repair and Service activities.
- Liaising with the Customer Support colleagues and the Estimating Team to develop price estimates when required.
- Initial review of Terms and Conditions of Contract where these are dictated by the customer.
- Contract negotiation.
- Defining and satisfying the requirements for export licence control compliance as required.
- Participating in detailed technical and commercial specification reviews in order to develop packs of information used to communicate the contract requirements internally in the business.
- Assisting with the project management of contracts from customers in the territory.
- Compliance with departmental and Company procedures whilst tendering and processing orders.
Person Specification
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
- Must have a recognised engineering qualification (HNC or above), ideally mechanical but not essential provided the candidate can read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings & specifications (i.e. from past experience).
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have experience of domestic and international travel and an appreciation of international cultures.
- Must be willing to work additional hours, including national and international travelling as required and be a current driving licence holder.
- An appreciation of engineering and machinery applications within industrial and marine markets would be advantageous.
- An appreciation of commercial terms and conditions of business would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of export licence control would be advantageous.

- Have a flexible attitude with the willingness to take on new tasks.
- High standard of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as being a good team player.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to operate the company ERP system is required.
