Purpose of the Job

The role of the Mechanical Technician is to assemble, install, maintain, test and dismantle complex machinery and mechanisms.

Specific Duties

Shaping of mechanical components and equipment, material removal using hand tools and machine methods.

Prepare machine tools and equipment for use.

Set and adjust machine tools and equipment.

Assemble mechanical components and equipment to meet required specifications.

Position and install mechanical plant and equipment.

Disassemble mechanical plant and equipment.

Read engineering drawings.

Ability to mark out. Create jig and fixtures to aid assembly / disassembly.

Create components and modify existing components from basic hand sketches and verbal instructions.

Fabrication and installation of high pressure hydraulic pipework.

Pressure testing of pipework including recording results

Assembly of hydraulic systems.

SHEQ Areas of Responsibility

Ensuring PPE and risk assessments are followed.

Be aware of and ensure all company procedures are followed.

Job scope will include but not be limited to the above. At certain times the work and working hours will vary dependent upon specific project requirements as advised by your Line Manager. The role may involve national and international travel.
